Buster Meets the Bullies is a tender and compelling narrative, illuminating a plight facing many children and their families. Through beautiful illustrations and thoughtful writing, readers are offered insight into the minds of the bullied and the bullies, underscoring the power of courage and the gifts of validation, kindness, and inclusion.
Buster is an affectionate young beagle who lives with his family on Canine Lane. He is smaller than his siblings, his legs are shorter, and his tail is stubbier, but he can squeeze into tight spots, making him the best hide-and-seek player in his house. He loves romping with the other dogs in the neighbourhood, yet not every pup in the pack wants to be his friend. The mean dogs in Doggyville have cast a dark shadow on Buster's carefree world. The bullies taunt and tease, they push him to the ground and won't let him join their games, but he tells no one how he feels or what they have done. Finally confiding in an adult, his mother's practical advice arms Buster with the confidence he needs to confront his tormenters.
